Paint The World
If I could paint the world,
I'd look no further than you.
Pink skies in summertime:
Sunset, sunrise.
The life in your face;
The life you try to hide.
Lakes the color of your eyes,
So that the blue's just right,
Nature's a failure in all but you.
And there would be forests of your grace,
Trees bending, bowing the wind's race;
And even they are playful,
Never harsh, nor biting and cruel.
So much like you.
Night, no longer my fear, will be lit.
Gentle, bright, but left in mystery just so.
And you'll be my partner
In where each star will go.
Underneath, there will be soft darkness,
Modeled after your hair,
But in it, likewise, I will find comfort.
And with my very last paintbrush,
Not dirtied in your perfection,
I'll paint in your flawed kindess:
Too much always,
But to the world, never enough.
xoxo
